Subject : Thank You To The Whole Stateway Team

Long story short, my husband and I hired a different company who gave us the run around for 3 weeks. Desperate, I contacted Stateway. Each time I had a concern, question (there had to of been hundreds) I was treated with respect, and our car arrived the same as it was loaded. Will use again. Highly recommend these guys!!! I was very hesitant to ship my car over especially with all the bad reviews on the Internet. I found this company after a couple of weeks researching and decided to stick with this one. There were a mix and good and bad reviews, so I was reluctant signing off but did so anyway. I was in contact with Brad and he was very helpful the whole time. He managed to get me a great deal for shipping from Jersey to California and it was even enclosed via train. He managed to get me a price lower than all the other companies that were going to ship it open road. The car came on the date discussed (little over a week) with no damage. They made my experience pleasant and very easy for such a stressful situation of moving your car out to another state. I definitely recommend them.  (more)

Not impressed with this company. I had a car shipped cross-country by them last year. The whole process was a headache from start to finish. Everything started out smoothly, but they quoted me, and gave me a receipt for one amount, and then tried to charge me a completely different amount. It took me about a month to finally get the extra money back that they charged us. If you go with this company, just be sure to over communicate with them so that they do not have any reason to charge you more than they said they would in the first place.  (more)

I was happy how fast the car got to me. The driver called me 4 times to tell me the progress he was making. Arrived early, told me he would be early. He covered all the things he found on the car at pickup to see if anything happened during shipping. Arrived in perfect shape. I highly recommend this company.  (more)

Subject : DO NOT TRUST

Cancelled my order on 2/16/15 after 3 weeks of waiting. They never called or showed up. Just wasted 3 weeks of my shipping time in which I had to rent a car to get around that cost me $800 I payed on 1/26/15. Today is 2/14/15 three weeks later. My car has not even been "scheduled" to be picked up leave alone being shipped. They promise you a schedule in 7 working days and then just make excuses after excuses when you call. First 2 weeks nobody called or returned my numerous calls. I have no idea how they got high ratings on Consumer Affairs. They must have rigged their employees to post good reviews on Consumer Affairs. I will never trust the reviews on Consumer Affairs again. Shameful!!!  (more)

I payed on 1/26/15. Today is 2/14/15 three weeks later. My car has not even been "scheduled" to be picked up leave alone being shipped. They promise you a schedule in 7 working days and then just make excuses after excuses when you call. First 2 weeks nobody called or returned my numerous calls. Subject : VERY WORST

If there is an option to give less than zero, then this company deserves it. Please stay away from this company. They have no business ethics and they don't care what you go through, literally putting you in a pathetic situation. I placed an order and they were NOT ABLE TO SHIP EVEN AFTER TAKING 4 WEEKS TIME!!! They will advertise mentioning that they will beat any price. (You will get these e mails even after placing orders!!) You will place order as you find them cheaper comparatively. Then starts the trouble. 1. Sales guy who looks very promising/caring will disappear once you place the order. (In my case, he was sounding that they will BE ABLE TO ship in 2-3 days) 2. Then you need to contact one lady Pam. Anytime you call her, the phone goes to voice mail!! She will talk about SLA if you complain about delay and offer you priority pickup which costs 200$ more. You will be in dilemma 3. You continue to wait...They won’t ship your vehicle until they get a driver who is willing to pick at a cheaper price offered to you. (Montway and Affordable Auto transport offer price higher but they have more probability of finding a driver and they will be able to ship.) 4. Every time YOU CALL, they will tell you that, they will ship in a day or two, this weekend etc. They will appreciate your patience. You will go on waiting but they will NOT ship. 5. Finally, you will end up finding another guy and pay much more to ship your car after waiting for 3-4 weeks. In my case, I had already moved to CA from Boston leaving my car in previous vacated apartment. Since I had parked my car in old apartment and moved here, leasing office started pressurizing me to take out the car as we are not supposed to leave the car after moving out. Situation became worst since Stateway did not pick even after 4 weeks. To avoid leasing people complaining to police, I had to place an order with another company (Mike Moss from Affordable Auto) to pick the car immediately for shipping and this costed me 1700$. (430$ more than what I had agreed initially with Stateway Auto) But he was honest and did pick on time. (Luckily we have people who charge more but do act on their words and deliver) I had to rent a car in CA for these 4 weeks time which costed me 1279$. The mental harassment for these 4 weeks just can NOT be described here. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. TRYING TO SAVE 100$ CAN COST YOU MORE THAN 1000$ AND UNLIMITED MENTAL HARASSMENT  (more)

Subject : Piss Poor Communication

One car to pick up in AZ and deliver to WA. Was on a short schedule because of a prescheduled trip overseas. Gave them 11.5 business days and 15.5 calendar days to arrange shipping. No problem, they said. With 5 business days to go, I gave them an increase in fees of 42% to try to get it done. Got Rachel on the phone 1 time and she said making my schedule was doable. Sent numerous emails to Rachel, numerous calls to Rachel and staus team - never reaching a person but leaving messages. Never a return call!!!!!!!!! Ended up making expensive short notice airline reservations to fly down and drive back. A wasted 2 weeks of my life. Don't know if all the transport companies are this incompetent but you should try any other one except Stateway.  (more)

Subject : Poor Service

Avoid at all cost. Initial quote used standard shipping rates resulting is lower quote which encouraged me to hire. But, pickup city off beaten path and advised by another transport broker that I may wait a long time unless I increase the price willing to pay as no actual transporter will pickup for standard rates. No response from Stateway for days, and every phone number and extension I tried was answered by auto phone system and responded high call volume offering message only. They NEVER actually answered any of my many calls. Offered a transport at $450.00 higher than their quote 4 days after initial availability date. I authorized a higher fee than original quote but did not accept offer. Pam from Stateway Auto called back advising shipper available for pickup next day, Saturday, and a Monday delivery, all for $305.00 higher than their $1,295.00 quote plus their $145 comm. I agreed due to promptness. Received dispatch notice 10 minutes later advising pickup was 4 days after promised date and delivery 6 days after promised delivery date. I had called and left messages to cancel order twice, because they never answer the phone. Then I got a call 2 days later and they said they had a driver, I told them I did not need their sevices. 4 days later they send me an e-mail in the late afternoon stating that they have someone picking up my truck the next day, and they charged me $195.00.no other previous communication. I called the next day, and they replied that they were going to refund my money that day. They have not, and have not heard from them since.  (more)

Worst company I have ever done business with. You cant get ahold of them. Try to call and it says due to high volume of calls? BS. same thing after hrs. Never once did I ever get through in 50 calls. You will also have to dispute the charges through the credit card company or the BBB to get your money back. The only time I talked to them is when I called! THIS IS A SCAM. I would highly recommend and use stateway auto transport again. because they had the lowest price that I could find, Sam is a great communicator and great at customer service. the driver pick up my Ford Ranger on time and delivered my truck in as expected condition in 9 days flat, I'm very pleased!!!  (more)

On 11/5/13 I bought a 07 Ford Ranger of Ebay and need to ship it pronto from a dealer in Philadelphia, Penn. to my house in Joliet, Il. Out of many quotes Sam of Stateway was the lowest at $595.00 included the $145.00 earnest deposit off my visa card and the rest I'll pay at delivery to the driver. Sam assured me 4-7 days till pickup maximum and 2 more to deliver on a dime and I'm convinced. He then email me welcoming introduction to their outfit and other pertinent details that is nice to be aware of. On the 7th day Sam called with email notification that my truck had been picked up and that the driver will be calling me before delivery the time so I'll be their to receive, inspect and pay. 2 days later the driver called that he's on route to drop off within 2 hours. He then showed up unloaded my truck onto my drive way in as expected condition then he part ways. At the time I'm amazed it only took 9 days! Before Stateway another company claiming to have 7,900 trucks delivering for them nation wide held my deposit for 10 days without any follow up calls about assigning a driver to my order. If only I called Sam of Stateway first I would be driving my truck 10 days earlier and I don't have to be hounding for my deposit back, which took nearly a month to refund back on to my card. A lesson learned, If I ever needed to ship another vehicle Stateway is the only way to go because they deliver on a dime no wasting your precious time, excellence in auto transport!!!  (more)

Subject : truck from Fortuna, Ca to Decatur, Il

We entered into contract on Nov 19th, I was told it usually takes 3-7 business days, sometimes they are picked up in 1-2 days. I gave them $185 up front and they said the driver would email me. After business day #9 I called and left a message (because I can't get anyone to answer the phone)to see if there was any way to know when it would be assigned. I was told the order was expedited, but not how that gets my truck picked up any sooner. I still haven't heard anything about when my truck might be assigned. I don't care if it takes a week to get here once it's on a truck, just as long as it's out of the seller's way and on the road to here.  (more)

Subject : They go the extra mile! (500 in my case)

I am posting my story first, then Stateway's rebuttal from another review website, then my response to their rebuttal. Judge for yourself! "If they tell you they go the extra mile for their customers, THEY REALLY MEAN IT. In my case, it turned out to be an extra 553 miles extra, which was evident when the car was received...with the gas tank empty and the odometer with 553 more miles on it than when they picked it up. This is a rather long story, but the bottom line is: USE STATEWAY AT YOUR OWN RISK. After reading this, YOU WILL HAVE BEEN WARNED. The indications were there right from the start, and I should have been smart enough to recognize them. Upon receiving many different quotes for shipping the car from Rancho Mirage, California to Vero Beach, Florida, I picked Stateway, who was neither the highest, nor the lowest bid. They impressed me because they make a big deal out the fact that they use their own trucks. Yes they do HAVE SOME, but my suspicion is that most of their business is done as an aggregator, taking the business and giving it to another trucker. They make no mention of this policy, but imply that others who do offer an inferior service. This is from their website: "What Makes Us So Different? We Are a Carrier Unlike so many of our competitors, Stateway Auto Transport is a fully insured and licensed carrier. This means that we own our own trucks and that we cut out the middleman for our customers. Why is this important? Being a carrier is essential in getting vehicles moved as quickly and efficiently as possible." Huh!!?? First of all, the original agreement sent to me by Stateway was totally inaccurate. It had the wrong address on it; the cost for their service did not reflect what they had quoted me; the recipients phone number was incorrect; and the model number on the car was incorrect. This was important because they indicated that if the car was longer or wider than expected, there would be an additional charge. The car they cited incorrectly was 9 inches shorter than mine. Based on my experience with Stateway, once you have booked them, they will not answer any calls or respond to emails in any way, regardless of how many you send. It was only after I refused to pay the deposit that they attempted to correct the agreement, a process that took 4 attempts before they got it right. It was comical... they would fix one problem and not the others. Then they would correct the other problems and the first problem would revert to being incorrect again and so on and so on...... My brother-in-law had also originally contracted with them to pick up his car from the same location, but to be dropped off in Connecticut. I emailed Rachel to see if they could pick up both cars at the same time to save the housekeeper from having to go to the house twice. Her emailed response: "yes". Based on that response, we booked them, not realizing that they never planned to pick up both cars up at the same time. My brother-in-law, eventually canceled with them after waiting several weeks for a pickup. They then, with no authorization from me, scheduled my pickup with an outside carrier. In fact they scheduled it twice before I authorized it. The third time, again without my authorization, they scheduled a pick up, but fortunately for them, the car was ready. Because I was overseas, I scheduled them to contact my sister and drop the car off with her. She received a call one day from Stateway saying that the driver was two hours away from Vero Beach, and had been trying to contact her. She called the phone number they gave her, left several messages with the answering service, and canceled her appointments and waited to no avail. Not only did the car not show up on time, but it disappeared totally from the radar . Here is an excerpt from what I emailed to them at that point: "Now, a few minutes ago, (my sister) received a call back from the driver that Sara (from Stateway) gave her the number for, and told her that there is no Lexus on the truck. Is there someone at your company that has any clue as to what is going on? More importantly, where is my car?" As it turned out, the driver completely bypassed Vero Beach and took the car 4 hours south, to Miami, where it sat for two weeks in a "secure location", according to Susie, the manager at Stateway. She went into great detail with me describing all of the snafus that happened along the way with this job, including employee disruptions, incompetence, etc, etc. The car was finally delivered to me on around June 16th, nearly 2 weeks after they had originally committed. THIS IS WHERE THE REAL PROBLEMS STARTED I was still overseas and received an email from the estate of the previous owner saying that they received a bill for $4 due to my car passing through a toll without paying in Miami, Florida at midnight. The bill came with a photo confirming that it was indeed my car with the original California plates. HUH? I immediately contacted the guy looking after the car to confirm the mileage on the car and it was indeed 553 miles higher than when it had left California and the gas tank was empty. I confirmed the extra mileage to Stateway by producing a Notarized document confirming the mileage prior to shipment when the sale of the car was made. Obviously, not only was my car NOT in a secure location, but it was left to be driven around by some idiot without my permission. Simply put, it is auto theft and someone will be held accountable. I have since spent over $3000 to fix the car. It had only 9764 miles on the odometer when it left California, but 553 unauthorized miles later it had balding tires and the front end was out of alignment. The Battery was nearly dead and had to be replaced and the rear brakes were seizing, needing replacement. Based on this, I had to assume the unauthorized drivers were not babying the car and so I requested a full service in it also. Stateway has not taken responsibility for any of this, other than the office Manager, Susie, committing to speaking to AIMEE TRANSPORT, IN MIAMI, who supposedly kept the car in "a VERY secure location". For the record, her promises were empty and it remains unresolved. Believe it or not, this report is simply a summary of the problems we had. For the entire ugly story,based entirely on documented facts, we are in the process of building a website : www.statewayautoproblems.talkspot.com. In it, I will document my adventure with them from beginning to end and it will allow others who have had similar problems to provide content. It is still under construction so be patient! " The first thing they did was get my review removed saying that they had no record of me being a customer. I fixed that and had it reposted, so they then responded on the websites with the following: STATEWAY AUTO RESPONSE "We at Stateway value every customers oppinion and are always striving to better our service based off of the feedback we recieve. With that said, it is important to point out a few very important points regarding this order. First and foremost the company that transported Mr. Steven Argosy's vehicle was not Stateway Auto Transport but was a subcontractor called Aimee Transport. Our company is a broker/carrier which means that we ship on our own trucks and utilize subcontractors when necessary. All of the companies we work with are fully insured, as we are, and have been in business for at least five years. When this customer received their vehicle on delivery he did not file a damage report and signed for the vehicle accepting it in a 'as is' condition. WE STRONGLY RECOMEND THAT ALL CUSTOMERS DO A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THEIR VEHICLE ON DELIVERY PRIOR TO SIGNING ANY PAPERWORK. Then a few days after the car was in his possesion, Mr. Argosy decided to call our office and demand that we fix his vehicle. Mr. Argosy's claims that we used a subcontracted carrier without notifying him are propesterous as every customer, upon the dispatching of their vehicle, receives several automaticly generated notification and confirmation emails letting them know who will be picking up the vehicle, when the vehicle will be picked up and the drivers personal phone number in case they need to reach them. When Mr. Argosy attempted to file a claim with the Carrier's insurance, they denied it based on the simple fact that he did not report the claim upon receiving his vehicle. We had explained all this in great detail but Mr. Argosy insists that our company be held responsible for the alleged actions of a completely separate third-party trucking company. We also have emails from Mr. Argosy stating that unless we send him a check, he will write up negative reviews for our company on multiple sites in an attempt to sabotage our business. This is blackmail by definition and our lawyers have been contacted. We tried to reach out to this customer numerous times since he posted this review but he has refused to answer any of our calls or emails. We thank you for taking the time to read this response and visiting our page. We hope you have a great day! " MY REBUTTAL TO STATEWAY I have replaced my full name with asterisks. STATEWAY CLAIM: "We also have emails from Mr. *******stating that unless we send him a check, he will write up negative reviews for our company on multiple sites in an attempt to sabotage our business. This is blackmail by definition and our lawyers have been contacted." RESPONSE: First of all,you don't need a lawyer for this. Blackmail is a criminal offense, not a civil one. If you truly have this email, give it to the police. Produce this email that I supposedly sent. If you cannot produce it, then it is because it is not true, and do not try to manufacture one because that will be simple to refute and manufacturing evidence is definitely a criminal offense. STATEWAY CLAIM that I signed off on the vehicle "as is". RESPONSE: My sister accepted the vehicle after delivery looking for damage because I was out of the country. Who would think to look for bald tires caused from unauthorized reckless use while the car was supposedly in Aimee Transportations "secure" lot? STATEWAY CLAIM "Then a few days after the car was in his possesion, Mr. *******decided to call our office and demand that we fix his vehicle" RESPONSE: Here is an excerpt from my email to Stateway. Judge for yourself if I was demanding payment: "Unfortunately the saga of the Lexus has continued, and not in a good way. I received notification of two toll violations in Miami at 12:15 am with a photo of the Lexus and the plate. I have not yet had the mileage checked on the Lexus vs what it was when it left California, but I will have that in the next few days. I sincerely hope that this car was not being used when it was supposedly in storage. Perhaps you can ask your supplier, Aimee for an explanation. There was no authorization given from me for anyone to drive that car other than on and off the truck." Maybe Stateway can read a demand to fix the car in that, I certainly cannot. Also, I defy them to show that I called their office at ANY time after the discovery was made. That leaves only email: to that I say "Show Me". STATEWAY CLAIM " Mr. ******claims that we used a subcontracted carrier without notifying him are propesterous " RESPONSE: Where did I make that claim? Please show me in my review where it is as you claim, or in any email I sent. Actually, I sent them an email on June 3rd, four days after the car was picked up asking who had the car. Here is their response. "Good Afternoon, the name of your carrier is CP Auto Transport 786-353-2468 Your COD due to the driver is 800.00. Kim" So obviously I knew there was a sub carrier. Unfortunately, it looks to me like they had no idea who actually had the car, as it was actually Aimee Transport. Give you a warm and fuzzy feeling? Contacted Stateway to ship my husbands vehicle from NY to NC. Was given 1-10 window for pickup and needless to say I'm still waiting with no response from Stateway! I've left numerous messages as well tried to call as if I'm getting a new quote (new customer) and still nothing but voicemail. They've already charged our credit card and I will be filing a dispute with my cc company in regard to this matter! I do advise anyone wanting to ship their vehicle to stay clear of this company and I'm sure the positive postings aren't from real customers experience. Beware!  (more)

Subject : DO NOT use this transport company

This is the worst car transport company in the country. The company staff is unresponsive and irresponsible. The driver is rude, unprofessional, and barely speaks English. First they tried to dispatch the driver without even calling us to schedule a date and time. Then, on the morning of the pickup date, the driver called my fiance’s phone EIGHT times at 7:00 AM, after I had specifically told them to call my cell phone and not my fiance’s. When my fiancé answered the phone, the driver told him that he didn’t have our address! The driver could barely communicate in English. The driver later called again, saying he couldn’t find our house. My fiancé had to cancel all his appointments for that morning so that he could go meet the driver and lead him back to our house. Ridiculous! I would never, ever recommend this company to anyone. I really regret using this company.  (more)

We at Martens Volvo of Washington DC have been doing business with Stateway Auto Transport for the past two years. Our sales people call this company before any other when our customers need a car shipped to another state. A bulk of our orders come from online purchases and we need customers to consider our dealership again and to recommend us so we need a stable and reliable shipping company to not disgrace our well earned reputation. This is precisely why we use Stateway. They always come through, even if we need a last minute move. All of our cars are highly inspected and in great condition so safe carriers are a top priority. Even though I cancelled the shipping of my vehicle because it was taking a little longer than I wanted, 10 days. They did call me and offer to add there own money to the transport bill, to do whatever it took to get my vehicle to me. I was surprised to say the least. This states to be as the only concern which never depends on the Brokerage. They excel in the field of transporting vehicles from one place to other. Stateway auto transports really have good domain knowledge and well expert in handling difficult situations. Thus I experienced once and really felt happy about their dedicated work. Subject : Shipping review...

When I needed to ship my car I booked with another company who promised a 7 day pickup. 2 months went by and still nothing. I cancelled and booked with my second choice Stateway. They explained that because my destination was in Wyoming, and virtually no trucks go there, it would take a while to get my car there. Then when I got a call from my rep stating that they found a driver for pickup in two days I was ecstatic. My car was delivered in 6 days! The crazy thing is that I went with the other company first because they charged more and I assumed that the higher the price the better the service. Was I wrong! I now wish I chose Stateway right away and saved myself all that trouble and stress.  (more)
