Here is the good: they did work hard because we had a lot of stuff, and after reading the negative reviews, we did get a good crew of nice guys that pretty much all spoke English. They showed up on time and the communication from Jerry was great.
The not so good: expect to pay at least $700-$1,000 more than you thought. I had sent pictures of the job to Jerry beforehand so they kinda knew the magnitude. During the move, they lag a little on purpose to make the charges go up. They also use more packing materials than needed, and the charges for those are astronomical. If you have moved before, you know thats the game with any movers, that they lag to make sure they get more money. The reason my final charges were about $1,000 more than the quote: "big job, takes a long time". Well, I sent you pictures so that you could get me an accurate estimate, but whatever.
Another thing I found weird was that they just straight up TOLD us that we have to buy them lunch. I would have probably done this anyway, but to just demand it is awkward and odd. Also to keep reminding me that their lunch is at 1pm and that I should "probably just order something" and "get them cokes". Ok, we all know that feeding 6 big guys is nothing cheap, so I opted for pizza, fine. They also depended on me for water bottled water (I totally would have supplied water anyway) but this is the first time I have had movers that did not bring their own water or responsible for their own food.
At the end, the dreaded (but expected) bill came up. They add a 5% fee if you use a debit or credit card, which was no small fee (ended up around $150 because our totally bill was just over $3,000). They also automatically added a tip of about $400. Luckily my husband caught the tip and lowered it because, thats crazy.
Overall: good service, as long as you know the quirks. could be quicker and they know it They also should not demand lunch and bring their own food/drink. If they do not bring their own food/drink, they need to tell you up front before they get there that they expect you to pay for this. What are you gonna say, no and look like an asshole when they are already there? Right.
Lets face it, nobody wants to frickin help you move, not even the movers. Its such a shitty job, I felt bad for them even though I was paying through the nose. (more)
