Michael Busch
Michael Busch was an American politician who served as the 58th Governor of Maryland from 2007 to 2019. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 26, 1959, and attended Johns Hopkins University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science in 1979. He went on to earn a law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1982.
Busch began his political career in 1986 when he was elected to the House of Delegates from Anne Arundel County, a post he held until 2003. During his time in the House, he served as the House Majority Leader from 1994 to 2003. In 2002, he was elected to the Maryland State Senate, where he led the Senate Democratic Caucus.
In 2006, Busch ran for Governor of Maryland and won. He was re-elected in 2010 and again in 2014. As Governor, he focused on education, the environment, and public safety. He increased funding for public schools and universities, and he worked to improve the state's air and water quality. He also supported the expansion of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar.
Throughout his political career, Busch was known for his focus on bipartisanship and his commitment to the people of Maryland. He worked to bring people together to find solutions to the state's challenges. He was praised for his dedication to the state and his ability to bring people together. He passed away at the age of 60 in 2019.
