Review Description
After using DAS several times with satisfactory results in the past, I contracted with them to ship my pristine, low mileage 2000 Porsche Boxster S from LA to NY in September of 2012. When I dropped the car off at their Gardena, CA depot, it had virtually new tires on it. When the car was delivered several days later however the rear tires were COMPLETELY BALD and the rear underside of the car was caked with rubber dust. Two tire shops said it was obvious someone had done burnouts in the car and in the process shredded 20,000 plus miles of tread off the tires! My mechanic also said the clutch would have taken a severe beating in the process. Dumbfounded, I called for an explanation but was merely told to file a claim (which I did and which they subsequently denied). I never received a call back from the customer service manager nor any explanation or official apology. Infuriated, I began perusing reviews on Epinions, Yelp, and the Better Business Bureau and quickly realized what a shady, unethical firm this is (apparently they had their BBB charter revoked in 2005). Complaints range from trashed cars to theft to sexual harassment of customers! The sheer number and variety of complaints makes it sound as if DAS is some sort of mafia operation. Unbelievable. They ARE the cheapest alternative around but NEVER EVER use them to ship a nice car. Based on hundreds of negative reviews out there, it's clear that DAS employees will happily abuse customer cars with complete impunity.
