Available Logistics
Logistics is the process of planning, implementing and controlling the efficient, cost-effective flow and storage of goods, services and related information from point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of conforming to customer requirements. It involves the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, and packaging. Logistics can be divided into two main categories: inbound logistics, which deals with the receipt of goods, and outbound logistics, which covers the storage and delivery of goods. Inbound logistics involves the management of the flow of goods from suppliers to the end-user. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing the goods. Outbound logistics involves the planning and control of the flow of goods from the end-user to the customer. This includes the preparation of goods for shipment, the scheduling of shipments, and the tracking of orders.
Logistics also includes the management of inventory, which includes the tracking and control of the amount of goods in stock. This includes the tracking of the amount of stock on hand, the movement of stock from one location to another, and the control of the level of stock in each location. Inventory control also involves the tracking of the status of orders and the scheduling of replenishment orders.
Finally, logistics includes the management of transportation, which involves the planning and scheduling of the transportation of goods from point of origin to point of delivery. This includes the tracking of shipments, the selection of carriers, and the management of the delivery schedule. It also includes the monitoring of carrier performance and the negotiation of rates with carriers.
