I arranged my husbands car to be shipped from NY to CA and considering the move I was extremely satisfied with my experience with Amerifreight. One thing people don't realize when making these reservations is that the booking company is just that, a third party that facilitates between a number of different carriers and you. I had never done this before and so Jasmine, my agent, explained everything to me before I even asked fora quote. The first thing I suggest everyone to do is ask what the process is because there are so many variables in the whole thing and most peoples complaints regarding their experience fall under these variables that no one can really control. Considering the distance of the move I was very happy with the cost and time however there were MAJOR hang ups at the pick up and delivery times that made my husband and I very dissatisfied. We were told we would receive a call from the carrier 24 to 48 hours before pick up time, we needed our car picked up in a two day window so we paid an extra 200 dollars to make sure it was so. The night of the first day we still had not heard anything so we called AmeriFreight and she called dispatch for the company and almost immediately the truck driver called. He said he would be there at 11 the next morning. Well several phone calls between 11 and 430pm later the driver was finally on his way. 40 minutes before picking up the vehicle the driver tells us we must meet him in a parking lot which was basically impossible because the car was unregistered, which is why we went with a company which offered door to door service. So in 40 minutes I actually called police dispatch in our community and arranged an escort to the parking lot the driver stopped at. After this experience I contacted Jasmine and emailed her everything from the beginning and asked if there was some sort of arrangement that could be made for drop off. Otherwise we would have had to pay for a tow truck. I didn't hear back from anyone at AmeriFreight regarding this request. We were able to get a temp pass from the DMV but because of the time crunch, we got into the state only two days before the car did, it would have been much easier to have the door to door delivery we were guaranteed. At delivery we given about an hours notice that he was dropping it off, which again was supposed to be at least 24 hours notice. Also, the driver told us he was actually in the area the day before on our original drop off date but it was his wedding anniversary and so he waited until the following day to drop it off. All of our issues were an immediate result of the carrier, and for the most part I was very pleased with the support I got from Jasmine. My husband and I handled all the situations that were thrown at us, however they never should have been thrown at us to begin with. The thing that made me the most upset was that I talked to the car driver approximately a dozen times in a 20 hour period and he waits until 40 minutes before pick up to tell me that I need to meet him in a garage. If we had known the day before we could have handled it much better. AmeriFreight did their job, and did it well as far as I'm concerned.
